Meet the Ambassador: Zachary
Meet Zachary Novak of Aveda Institute Phoenix - our newest MONEY Ambassador. The ambassador program is a community of school leaders who want to make a lasting impact on our industry. These individuals are passionate about financial literacy, believe in the power of education, and want to help shape a new generation of beauty and wellness professionals. We sat down with Zachary to ask him a few questions about his new role as a MONEY ambassador.
Why are you passionate about financial literacy?
I believe that financial literacy opens the doorway for confidence and flexibility in our daily lives.
Why do you think financial literacy is important for students?
It's important for students to understand more about their finances early in their careers to better plan their futures in the industry.
Which part of the MONEY program are you most excited about?
I'm most excited about MAKING money!
Many people identify with having negative or unproductive money stories. What’s your money story?
I grew up in poverty with parents who didn't really understand how to grow out of their situation. Throughout my career, I've had the opportunity to make great incomes at early stages along my journey, but I wasn't aware of how to best plan my investments until much later. Now I am in an awesome position, have a clear understanding of financial planning, and have the confidence to move forward with my life and career generally hassle-free.
Imagine every beauty and wellness student was provided financial literacy education. How do you think this would change our industry?
I think it would allow our students to make more educated decisions in accepting positions, negotiating salaries, or even creating small businesses that have high impacts on local communities.
