Meet the Ambassador: Stephanie Liebel
Meet Stephanie of Paul Mitchell The School Fort Myers - our newest MONEY Ambassador. The ambassador program is a community of school leaders who want to make a lasting impact on our industry. These individuals are passionate about financial literacy, believe in the power of education, and want to help shape a new generation of beauty and wellness professionals. We sat down with Stephanie to ask her a few questions about her new role as a MONEY ambassador.
Why are you passionate about financial literacy?
I think it is so important to learn how and when to spend and save money.
Why do you think financial literacy is important for students?
They do not understand all the things that they will need money for. I think the younger generation needs help to understand saving and spending priorities. They have all these dreams but no money or a plan to save money.
Which part of the MONEY program are you most excited about?
Learning more about finances myself!
Many people identify with having negative or unproductive money stories. What’s your money story?
My mother was a single young mother raising a daughter when she met my stepfather. They married and scraped every penny they had together to purchase a company that they together built into a very successful business. They made a few bad money choices and again did not have a good money plan. They lost everything including all of their retirement and savings plans. I learned what not to do from my parents. My husband and have worked so hard all of these years on our own financial literacy, he is a saver. We would like to retire and travel.
Imagine every beauty and wellness student was provided financial literacy education. How do you think this would change our industry?
I think so many more students would stay in this industry and be more successful if they had financial education.
