Meet the Ambassador: Heather
Meet Heather Elliott of Paul Mitchell the School Great Lakes - our newest MONEY Ambassador. The ambassador program is a community of school leaders who want to make a lasting impact on our industry. These individuals are passionate about financial literacy, believe in the power of education, and want to help shape a new generation of beauty and wellness professionals. We sat down with Heather to ask her a few questions about her new role as a MONEY ambassador.
Why are you passionate about financial literacy?
It creates a secure foundation for a successful and fulfilling life.
Why do you think financial literacy is important for students?
Understanding the fundamentals of finance allows them to make positive and healthy choices regarding their future and finances - instead of creating difficult circumstances that require years to remedy.
Which part of the MONEY program are you most excited about?
I love the outcome, the moment when a student realizes that it's within their power to change their circumstances and they finally have the tools and knowledge to accomplish that.
Many people identify with having negative or unproductive money stories. What’s your money story?
I wasn't raised with the gift of financial literacy, and I made many mistakes along the way to acquiring that information. Even though I've recovered and have been on a great path for years, I appreciate the fact that this program gives our students a head start with a simple and effective delivery method.
Imagine every beauty and wellness student was provided financial literacy education. How do you think this would change our industry?
Our industry would be thriving with professionals who understood what it takes to be successful in and outside of work, people who were committed to their future, and loving what they do.
